MALLORCA VILLAGES GUIDE > ALCUDIA > TOWN TRANSPORTATION
TOWN TRANSPORTATION

The journey into Alcudia from the Son Sant Joan International airport is possibly one of the trouble-free travels on the island. The fast PM-27 motorway will take you as far north as the town of Inca, and from there the main C-713 then takes you straight in to the middle of Alcudia.
Normally, the transfer is approximately 1 and a half hours. Nonetheless, at least one of the major tour operators is known to drop guests off at the nearby resort of Puerto Pollensa before making the short trip over to Alcudia, which is effectively adding another 45 minutes to the already lengthy journey time.

There are always plenty of taxis available outside of the arrivals hall to accommodate a growing number of visitors. Although sometimes you should be prepared to fall in line. In theory at least, the taxis should all operate on a fixed price basis, typically charging around €75 for the journey to Alcudia. However, it has been known that this "fixed price" may vary slightly depending upon the number of suitcases, the time of day or night of the journey, and of course the number of passengers carried. Also an important consideration for families with small children is that these taxis do not as a rule carry child seats, therefore children may have to sit on their parent's knee for the journey. If this is a cause for concern, we strongly recommend that you make arrangements for a pre-booked taxi to be waiting for you, and clearly specify at the time of booking that a child seat is needed for the journey.

There are regular passenger buses making rounds to accommodate commuters and visitors, although it can become very crowded around 10 am and after 7 pm, especially on the “market days”. Be that as it may, the bus drivers will shove on as many people as possible. On worst case scenarios, where there are no vacant buses and taxis, be prepared to walk . It isn’t a bad option at all considering that many enchanting natural beauty surround the town.
